Napoli are looking to bolster their attacking ranks with the signing of Atlético Madrid forward Samu Omorodion, who spent this season out on loan at Deportivo Alavés.

The 20-year-old attacker has scored nine goals and bagged a single assist in 33 La Liga games this season, leaving his side in mid-table.

According to El Desmarque, the youngster already has a range of offers from the Premier League, but it is Napoli who wants to sign him and make him ‘The new Osimhen’, given that Victor Osimhen is expected to leave the Italian club this summer.

Napoli sees him as a player to build their team around, capable of wearing the number 9 shirt for the Italian club. It is still unknown whether Napoli are eyeing a permanent transfer or a loan.

Atlético Madrid will have a tough decision to make this season regarding whether Omorodion should be given a chance at the club, go out on loan to gain more experience, or be sold on.

With a release clause of €90 million, and Omorodion’s performances having not quite set the world alight, it will be interesting to see what type of deal Napoli choose to pursue.

Some of the offers from Premier League teams, it is claimed, were around the halfway mark of this figure, with Atlético not quite convinced. Many clubs will be hesitant to invest in what is a largely unproven player.
