Napoli defender Juan Jesus is considering criminal charges against Inter Milan’s Francesco Acerbi over the latter’s alleged racial abuse.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the 32-year-old is determined to prove he is not falsely accusing Acerbi.

Yesterday, Sporting Judge Gerardo Mastrandrea gave his verdict in the alleged racial abuse case involving Acerbi and Jesus.

The Judge had considered all evidence collected by the prosecutors’ office of the Italian FA.

Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine had questioned both Acerbi and Jesus to get their respective versions of events.

And Chine had also looked for any other evidence – video, audio, or testimonies from other players – that could shed light on the situation.

And, based on the evidence, Mastrandrea found Acerbi not guilty.

Mastrandrea’s verdict does not definitively determine that Acerbi did not use racially discriminatory language towards Jesus.

However, the Sporting Judge came to the conclusion that there is no sufficient evidence that the Inter player did racially abuse his Napoli counterpart, so cannot be found guilty.

According to the Gazzetta, Jesus is angry at the verdict.

The Brazilian believes that there should be enough evidence that Acerbi had used a racial slur against him during the match between Inter and Napoli this month.

Moreover, Jesus is angry at suggestions that he is either lying, or had misheard Acerbi.

In his immediate post-match comments, Jesus had said that he’s happy for “what happens on the pitch to stay on the pitch.”

The Napoli defender had stated that Acerbi apologized to him. And that he had accepted the Italian international’s apology.

However, Acerbi flatly denied the allegations of racist abuse the following day.

And Jesus reacted angrily to those comments from the Inter defender.

The 32-year-old accused Acerbi of lying and changing his story after initially apologizing.

In light of yesterday’s not guilty verdict, Jesus wants to clear his name of suggestions that he falsely accused Acerbi.

The Napoli player cannot appeal the verdict by Mastrandrea.

However, Jesus could file criminal charges. And according to the Gazzetta, the Brazilian is considering doing so.
