Napoli continued to charge towards the Serie A title with a casual victory in Empoli, their seventh consecutive in the league.
The crowd inside of the Stadio Carlo Castellani was treated to a wide open game from the first whistle, with both teams keen on playing on the front foot.
Amidst the chaos however, a defensive howler broke the deadlock.
A superb ball flashed across goal from the byline was bumbled in over the Empoli line by Ardian Ismajli, gifting Napoli a lead within 20 minutes.
It quickly went from good to great for Napoli, as Victor Osimhen tapped home a rebound from point blank range to double the visitors lead before the break.
Napoli looked to drive the final nail in the Empoli coffin in the second half, but the game was turned on its head in the final 25 minutes when Mário Rui was sent off for kicking out at an Empoli player.
The hosts were unable to take advantage of their numerical superiority however, as Napoli comfortably secured the clean sheet and victory, extending their lead at the top to 18 points for now.
