Wolverhampton Wanderers were hoping to sign him after reaching a verbal agreement with Sevilla, but they had not agreed personal terms.
The club earmarked Sanchez as a top target to reinforce the full-back position after losing the transfer battle for Marc Pubill to Atletico Madrid.
The tables have been turned again in their pursuit of Sanchea, as Napoli have reportedly won the race to sign him.
The Partenopei are set to finalise an agreement with the La Liga club after tabling an offer worth €17 million, which will be paid in four instalments.
Despite Wolves’ lucrative salary offer, Sanchez is determined to move to the Diego Maradona Stadium, which has been a key factor for Napoli to come out on top in the transfer battle.
Sevilla have been forced to sell players due to financial issues, and Sanchez was a prime candidate after catching the eye with his impressive performances.
Sanchez will become Napoli’s next major investment this summer. They have already signed Kevin De Bruyne, Lorenzo Lucca, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Sam Beukema and Luca Marianucci.
The Spanish youngster is viewed as a potential back-up for first-choice right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
The Scudetto winners are also working on the signing of Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez. A total agreement worth €18m has been reached with the Catalan club.
