Nantes look to raid recently-relegated rivals Lorient

If being relegated and losing all of your players isn’t tough enough, FC Lorient may lose their players to none other than local rivals FC Nantes, who narrowly avoided relegation to France’s second tier.

Antoine Kombouaré came in late in the campaign and rescued Nantes, securing their safety in Ligue 1 for another season. However, upon the conclusion of the campaign, he was unequivocal – the side needs an overhaul. Very few players aren’t on the market this summer and a considerable recruitment drive will therefore be needed.

Nantes are looking to source their new squad locally and pinch players off fellow Breton club Lorient, according to a report from Ouest-France.  Les Canaris have seemingly failed in an attempt to lure captain Laurent Abergel to the club. Instead, he looks set to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Les Merlus. However, there remain four other Lorient players on FCN’s list.

Goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo, defender Montassar Talbi, who is also garnering interest from Torino and FC Porto, Julien Ponceau and Aiyegun Tosin are all targets for Kombouaré’s side.
