RMC Sport, via AFP, report this afternoon that Bordeaux supporters were involved in a clash with Nantes fans while in Lorient for their team’s 1-1 draw in Brittany earlier.
Police sources explain that the fight started as Les Girondins supporters were standing outside a bar around midday today, and were attacked by the Nantes fans. The incident is said to have involved 50 supporters from today’s away side, and 30 on the Canaris side. The two teams had faced each other last week in the Derby de l’Atlantique, ending in a 1-1 draw.
Three were hospitalised as a result of the fight, but there were no serious injuries. Incidents between the two sets of rival fans had been the reasoning for a 2017 local decree banning Bordeaux supporters from going to watch their team in Nantes, although this was later partially reversed.
