Chelsea and Tottenham are battling it out for Xavi Simons, with the deal set to be decided on Friday according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues agreed a deal for Alejandro Garnacho on Thursday, but are still looking to add another attacker to the squad.
Chelsea have already signed Garnacho, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens as they continue to revamp their attack.
Simons was expected to be the fifth and final attacking signing, and Chelsea have been pursuing the Dutch international for the majority of the window.
Leipzig have given Simons permission to be in London to try and finalise a move, with the German club thought to want a total package of £60m.

It had been reported Chelsea would move for Simons once Christopher Nkunku had departed, and the 27-year-old has now left for AC Milan.
However, Chelsea are still yet to make an offer and Simons is now edging close to joining rivals Tottenham, but Romano has provided an update.
“My information is that the Xavi Simons deal will be decided today, Friday!,” he told his YouTube channel.
“Spurs are close to agreeing on a fee with Leipzig for £52m.
“They need to reach agreement with Xavi also.
“We will have to see if Chelsea is prepared to pay what is needed.”
If Chelsea miss out on Simons, then they could switch their attention to Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez.
Enzo Maresca is believed to have spoken to Lopez personally, but as of yet there’s no indication the player wants to leave Barcelona.

Lopez is similar to Simons, but is arguably more of a goal threat and more versatile, but again Chelsea haven’t made an offer.
It’s been reported Chelsea could have other players up their sleeve, but with the clock ticking it’s going to be fascinating to see how this all plays out.
