Juventus coach Thiago Motta insists Dusan Vlahovic is the first one who wants to ‘turn things around’, and while fans are free to express their feelings, they must do so ‘respectfully.’
Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw by Serie A strugglers Venezia on Saturday, and fans in Curva Sud booed the team after the final whistle.
Vlahovic was particularly irritable and replied to angry ultras who also hit back with insulting chants.
Motta said during a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia that the fans have the freedom to express their emotions, but the ex-midfielder continued talking about the incident during a post-match press conference.
“The lad is the first one who wants to turn things around and win,” said Motta, as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“The fans have the freedom to express themselves, including with whistles. However, it’s clear that respect is required, even in your job. You may receive criticism, but you are not insulted. It’s not nice to hear. He is the first one willing to turn things around, and the fans are free to express their feelings, but always with respect.”
Juventus captain Danilo also faced questions about the incident during his post-match press conference.
“I don’t know why Dusan was so angry. The first thing I did was try to calm him down. Everyone must calm down at the end of a game, including the fans,” said the Juventus captain.
“Sometimes, fans think we are not committed enough, but it’s not true. We are always available, and we work hard. Things should have worked better. On Tuesday, we have a chance to reply aggressively and show on the pitch that we are here.”
Juventus return to the pitch in two days for a Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie against Cagliari in Turin.
Vlahovic is Juventus’ best scorer this season, with 11 goals in 19 games. His contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2026.
