Perhaps not just the Man of the Match tonight, but in all honesty, the Man of the Tournament so far.

Raheem Sterling has come a long way since the start of June, when many fans and pundits alike were wondering whether he had a place in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI.

The Manchester City has comprehensively put that to bed this summer, with match-winning goals and awe-inspiring performances aplenty.

But here in Rome, Sterling took that to another level and showed exactly why Southgate has put so much faith in him since day one.

Pace, guile, exceptional movement and game intelligence that was second-to-none, the 26-year-old was an utter phenomenon at the Stadio Olimpico.

His pass for the Harry Kane opener would have probably been enough to claim this award, but the rest of the 90 minutes were equally as good for the boy from Brent.

A performance that will live forever in the Eternal City.
