According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco technical director Carlos Aviña is set to take up a role at MLS side San Diego FC.

Avinã took the role at Monaco in August. The Mexican, who had been working as Sporting Director at Satellite club Cercle Brugge since 2020 replaces Laurence Stewart, who was appointed Sporting Director at Chelsea back in January 2023. At the Principality club, Aviña has collaborated with Thiago Scuro, who replaced Paul Mitchell as sporting director in the summer, and Adi Hütter, who replaced Philippe Clement as manager, also in the summer of 2023.
