With Guillermo Maripán (29) nearing a move to Stade Rennais, as per a report from Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco are in the market for a replacement. According to RMC Sport, Sevilla’s Loïc Badé (23) is being considered.

Monaco have already completed the signing of one centre-back this window. Thilo Kehrer has arrived on loan from West Ham United in a deal that could be made permanent at the end of the season. However, according to Romano, an agreement between Monaco and Rennes over the permanent transfer of Chilean international Maripán is close.

Brassier trail goes cold

As a result, the Principality club are looking to strengthen further at the back. Les Monégasques have been locked in negotiations to sign Stade Brestois’ Lilian Brassier since the start of the window, however, they face stern competition for the Frenchman’s signature, notably from AC Milan.

RMC Sport now report that Monaco have made an enquiry to Sevilla about the availability of Badé, however, the La Liga club are not keen to let the former Rennais leave the club. The publication reports that the deal to sign Brassier has also gone cold in recent hours. Regardless, Monaco wish to sign Maripán’s replacement before letting the Chilean depart to their Ligue 1 rivals.
