AS Monaco duo Folarin Balogun and Aleksandr Golovin could make their returns from injury during the Côte d’Azur derby against OGC Nice later this month, Adi Hütter has confirmed.
Balogun has not featured since the start of December. The USMNT forward suffered a dislocated shoulder during the match away to Stade Rennais in October before making a return at the end of November. However, he suffered a relapse with the feeling in the affected shoulder not quite right. The injury was aggravated against Olympique de Marseille at the start of December and the decision was taken to operate on the injury.
Golovin, meanwhile, has not played since the 12th February and the match against Benfica. He has been suffering from an adductor injury. Neither are expected to return against SCO Angers this weekend but the match against Nice on 29th March is a feasible return date.
“Balogun is back training with the group and Golovin trained with us today for the first time and they will be ready after the international break. I think that they can be ready for the Côte d’Azur derby,” said the Monaco manager in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
Meanwhile, Kassoum Ouattara will be out for two or three weeks after suffering a calf injury during a friendly game against Brentford’s U23s this week. Soungoutou Magassa was back in training for Monaco on Thursday, however, he only partook in individual training. His return date remains unknown.
