It was a winning start to the new Ligue 1 campaign for AS Monaco last weekend, with the Principality club also joining some exclusive company in the process.

A 3-1 victory over Le Havre AC vaulted them to the top of the table after Saturday’s matches, and they have now won the opening domestic fixture on four successive occasions. Their opening triumph was the 1,100th for Les Monégasques in the history of this competition.

That makes Monaco only the second French club to reach that historic feat in the top flight, with the other being Olympique de Marseille, who have tallied 1,206 wins at this level.

Adi Hütter’s men are now unbeaten in nine consecutive matches in this competition at the Stade Louis II. Since the Austrian was appointed club manager ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, Les Monégasques have won 23 league contests in the Principality, the joint-highest tally over that period as of Saturday alongside reigning league champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Hütter has only suffered nine defeats domestically at home since taking over as Monaco boss from Philippe Clement in 2023.

Next up, Monaco will visit Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Sunda,y August 24 to face Lille OSC.
