Monaco have agreed a fee with Liverpool for versatile forward Takumi Minamino, 90min can confirm.
The Japan international has been a bit-part player since moving to Anfield from Red Bull Salzburg two-and-a-half years ago and spent time on loan at Southampton during the 2020/21 season.
Minamino was afforded just 894 minutes of action in the 2021/22 campaign, although he still chipped in with ten goals and one assist in all competitions for the Reds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 27-year-old was informed that he could leave last week, and Ligue 1 side Monaco are now closing in on a deal.
Leeds and Fulham are among the Premier League clubs who had made an approach for the attacker, but the team from the principality have stolen a march on them to agree a fee with Liverpool.
90min understands the Monegasques will pay a fee of €15m (€12.9m) plus a further €3m (€2.6m) in add-ons.
Although Sadio Mane is also closing in on a move away from Liverpool as he prepares to join Bayern Munich, the Reds have already reinforced their attack in recent weeks and months - pushing Minamino further down the pecking order.
Flying winger Luis Diaz was signed in January and made a very impressive start to life on Merseyside in the second half of the season. The Reds then moved quickly to add Benfica striker Darwin Nunez to their ranks in a big-money deal earlier this month. Young attacker Fabio Carvalho has also joined from Fulham.
