Mohamed Salah says Liverpool need to win their second Premier League title in order to secure their legacy as an all-time great team.

The Reds have so far lifted the trophy just once under Jurgen Klopp during the 2019/20 campaign, but have come extremely close to repeating the achievement on multiple occasions.

They currently sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Arsenal and one ahead of current champions Manchester City, yet still need to face the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in a tricky looking run-in.

But Salah, who has just over a year left on his Liverpool contract, thinks his side need to be crowned the best team in the top-flight to secure legendary status.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "We won just one Premier League, one Champions League and other cups, but I think it's necessary to win another one. I believe that we can win this one, we just need to focus on each game, it's necessary to win another title.

"We won the league just one time so it would be great to win a second time. For our legacy here at the club, we need to win the league for the second time."

Salah, who signed with the Reds in 2017 from AS Roma, has scored over 200 goals for his club and is one of their top five all-time goalscorers, ahead of Steven Gerrard. He signed a new three-year contract in the summer of 2022, tying him to the club until 2025, but has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

As for Liverpool, they are preparing to usher in a new era. Klopp has already announced that he will leave his post at the end of the season, citing the need to take a break from the rigours of day-to-day management.

He has enjoyed a hugely successful eight-and-a-half trophy-laden year tenure, winning not only the Premier League but also the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup on two occasions.
