Mohamed Bayo refuses to leave Lille for Al-Fayha FC
Mohamed Bayo is standing his ground at Lille. The Guinean international striker has turned down an offer from Al-Fayha FC despite an agreement reached between LOSC and the Saudi club. The 27-year-old is holding firm to his European ambitions.
Bayo now finds himself in a tricky situation with club management. The Guinean striker is adamant about not joining Al-Fayha FC in Saudi Arabia, despite Lille and the Saudi side reaching a preliminary deal. The player’s firm stance is complicating the plans of Lille’s management, who are keen to part ways with their striker, having relegated him to the outcasts’ group since his loan return from Antwerp.
LOSC had already finalized the terms of a transfer with Al-Fayha FC without first consulting their player. This unilateral move by Les Dogues was meant to quickly resolve the Bayo saga, as he’s not in Bruno Genesio’s plans for the upcoming season. The transfer fee and financial conditions had been negotiated between the clubs, but the main party involved was never contacted by the Saudi representatives.
The former Clermont striker remains steadfast in his European ambitions and refuses to move to the Saudi league. This stance highlights the player’s determination to continue his career on the Old Continent, where he believes he still has a place despite a couple of difficult seasons. Bayo would rather wait for an opportunity at a European club than accept the golden exile offered by Al-Fayha FC.
Several European clubs have shown interest in Mohamed Bayo in recent weeks. Sassuolo, Parma, Utrecht, Mainz, Sporting CP, and Besiktas have all gathered information about a potential transfer. These numerous European leads reinforce the player’s position, as he hopes to secure one of these opportunities before the summer transfer window closes.
