AC Milan remain locked in negotiations with Alessio Romagnoli over the potential renewal of his contract and there is a distance between the parties, a report claims.

Romagnoli has been at Milan since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Roma, and up until the beginning of 2021 he was very much one of the first names on the team sheet under all previous managers, but the arrival of Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on an initial loan that was made permanent has meant he is no longer a guaranteed starter.

MilanNews takes a look at the difficulties that Milan’s defensive department are facing given that Fikayo Tomori is out for around a month after surgery and Simon Kjaer will miss the rest of the season, with the situation not helped by the fact Romagnoli’s situation is currently an unknown too.

Regarding Romagnoli’s contract, the negotiation is experiencing a stalemate after reports of an initial opening between two parties and a potentially easy negotiation. That is because the captain wants €3.5m net per season plus €1m in potential bonuses, while the offer on the table is €2.5-2.8m plus bonuses.
