The Major League Soccer disciplinary committee has announced its latest round of decisions ahead of Week 30 of the 2022 season.
Four fines have been issued, as well as an additional suspension:
Vancouver Whitecaps striker Lucas Cavallini has already served a one-match suspension following a red card he received for violent conduct in a recent 3-0 defeat to Nashville SC.However, the Canada international will now serve an extra three games on the sidelines. Having already missed a 2-0 loss against the San Jose Earthquakes, Cavallini will also be absent for matches against the Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy, and Seattle Sounders.Cavallini has also been handed an undisclosed fine.
Austin FC forward Moussa Djitte was sent off in unceremonious circumstances at the end of a 3-0 loss to Nashville at the weekend. But rather than heading straight off the field, the Senegalese player stuck around to make his feelings known. This, of course, breaks the MLS policy when it comes to leaving the field in a timely manner and Djitte has been handed a fine for his troubles.
Federico Bernardeschi has enjoyed a great start to life with Toronto FC but has suffered a small setback after being fined for violating the league's policy regarding hands to the face/head/neck of an opponent. The incident in question took place during TFC's 4-3 defeat to rivals CF Montreal in an altercation with Canadian defender Kamal Miller.
Like Djitte, NYCFC center-back Thiago Martins has been fined for failing to leave the field in a timely manner. The Brazilian was sent off after giving away a penalty in the 75th minute of NYCFC's 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati on Wednesday.
