Second-tier outfit Millwall have been linked with a move for the midfielder this summer, and the news could put the club on red alert as they prepare for the 2025/26 Championship term.

As reported by Football.London, Devine is among several Spurs youngsters being considered for loan exits before the window shuts. The midfielder impressed on loan with Belgian side Westerlo last term, where he scored six goals in 30 league appearances.

A Championship move could be the next step for Devine

Devine joined Spurs from Wigan Athletic in 2020 and has spent several periods out on loan.

The England youth international featured in pre-season under Thomas Frank; however, first-team minutes are likely to be scarce in the Premier League.

Millwall finished eighth in the Championship last season and are now looking to strengthen under Alex Neil while keeping hold of the likes of Mihailo Ivanovic and Japhet Tanganga.

The Lions had been linked with Devine earlier in the summer, and he could follow in the footsteps of former Tottenham loanee Tanganga, who joined Millwall in 2023, initially temporarily, before making a permanent switch last summer.

The defender has since gone on to become a key player for the club, making 40 Championship appearances in the 2024/25 season.

A permanent deal could be difficult to negotiate for Devine; however, a season-long loan may now be a realistic possibility for the midfielder. And Millwall's previous dealings with Spurs will bring no harm in doing so.

Low-risk, high-upside deal for Millwall

Millwall have made six signings so far this summer as they prepare for a potential play-off push under Alex Neil.

The signing of flying Luton Town wing-back Alfie Doughty was a statement, and keeping hold of key players alongside this would be a huge boost for Neil as the 2025/26 term approaches.

The chance to bring in a youngster of Devine's calibre on loan would be low risk, but it could bring high upside to the Den.

A versatile midfielder capable of playing in both more attacking and defensive roles, while also able to fill in out wide, Devine impressed for Belgian side Westerlo as they just missed out on a European spot via the play-offs last term.

Devine has also spent time in the EFL before, with Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle.

He netted six times and provided one assist across 32 appearances in all competitions, while also playing in a physical, all-action division akin to the properties of the Championship.

At 21, Devine has made almost 100 senior appearances, and would bring fantastic versatility to Millwall, while being offered a fantastic chance to further develop at The Den.

With Spurs now reportedly willing to let the youngster leave on loan again, Millwall may be on red alert to pounce before other Championship clubs, given their links to the midfielder throughout this summer.
