Danny Mills has claimed Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi will not start for Leeds United against West Brom.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested the pair will be introduced from the bench in Leeds’ first home game of the season in front of the Elland Road faithful.
The club confirmed on Friday that the much-loved pair will leave the club in the summer.
Marcelo Bielsa suggested in his press conference ahead of the West Brom game they will play a part in the club’s final game of the season.
“I’m sure Bielsa is aware of the affinity they have to the fans,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But it’s football. Time moves on. Football moves on. Players are transient.
“I’m sure that if he can, they will get a few minutes to say goodbye. Even if it’s a couple of minutes at the end of the game to wave to those fans. It will be a nice gesture.
“That’s all it needs to be. It doesn’t need to be starts, it doesn’t need to be anything else.
“If they both come on for the last five minutes with the fans there.
“If you can make those emotional decisions and you’re in a position to, then great. But it’s few and far between that those great farewells happen in that way.
“They’ll be on the pitch come the end of the game and they’ll get a send-off, a guard of honour or whatever it might be.”
In other news, Leeds United are braced for “huge” bids for “phenomenon” who has missed two-thirds of the season.
