Despite beating the Chicago Fire 4-1, Atlanta United's celebrations were muted on Saturday as Miles Robinson was stretchered out of the game early in the first half.

Robinson went down without contact in the 14th minute while making a routine clearance, pointing to his left leg and slamming his hands on the Mercedes-Benz turf in pain and frustration. The defender was carried off the field minutes later to be replaced by Alex De John.

Atlanta United have already lost the likes of Brad Guzan, Ozzie Alonso, and Dylan Castanheira to serious ACL and Achilles injuries this season, while Josef Martinez underwent surgery on his knee last month.

"I think it's going to be a bad injury," Atlanta United head coach Gonzalo Pineda said in a half-time interview. "I hope it's not, so let's see after the tests. But [a] very unfortunate injury."

Speaking to reporters after Saturday's match, Pineda insisted he has no issues with the club's medical staff and claimed the recent injuries weren't linked, putting them down to 'bad luck'.

USMNT fans will also be holding their breath on Robinson's status. The 25-year-old was a key figure in Gregg Berhalter's side as the Stars and Stripes qualified for their first Fifa World Cup since 2014, while he also scored the winning goal as the US beat Mexico in the Concacaf Gold Cup final last summer.

Atlanta United suffered another fitness setback in the same match as Caleb Wiley was forced off the field just 14 minutes after he came on as a substitute.
