Roma shot-stopper Mile Svilar met with the media prior to his team’s meeting with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Giallorossi face-off against the German champions tomorrow evening, hoping to overturn their 2-0 deficit and potentially clinch their third straight trip to a European final.
“Bayer’s quickness is something we need to watch out for,” began Svilar.
“As we’ve seen, this is a strong team with a group of players that have been together for quite some time. The coach has been here for a year and a half and they know each other better. They are a strong team, they haven’t lost in 47 matches but we will try our best.”
As for himself, the 24 year-old was asked to reflect on his ascendancy from Rui Patricio‘s back-up to Roma’s undisputed first choice and among the best in Serie A just within a few short months.
“Given I hadn’t played for awhile, it’s hard to say whether or not I expected to be in this position,” he admitted.
“Like everyone else, I just try to do my job as best as I can, thankfully it’s going well. This is what I’ve worked for. The moment arrived thanks to the manager and I’m quite happy.”
“However, I don’t just think about individual performances; I want to win as a team and that’s what we need to do.”
Finally, “Have I studied their penalty-takers? Yes, I already looked at them last week but I will study more tomorrow because you never know what might happen.”
