Milan striker Olivier Giroud has expressed regret at the fact that the Rossoneri could not pick up all three points from their game against Napoli on Sunday.

It turned out to be quite a thrilling contest at the Maradona, as Napoli came back from 2-0 down to snatch a point against Milan. Giroud had scored a first-half brace but Rudi Garcia made three changes at half time and the Partenopei scored twice in the second half, with Matteo Politano continuing his fine form and Giacomo Raspadori scoring off a free-kick.

Giroud was substituted for Luka Jovic late in the game and the Frenchman seemed disappointed on having been taken, as he proved some his critics wrong with a vital brace.

The striker spoke to MilanTV (via TMW) after the game he regretted that Milan couldn’t get all three points. He said: “I’m frustrated and angry about this result. We had the game in hand; in the first half we could have scored four goals, in the interval we told ourselves to be ready in the second half because they would have played another game, but in the end, we are frustrated.”

Giroud further said: “We’re talking about the Scudetto, we wanted to react, we’re competitive, we had to get the three points. Maybe it’s because I’m disappointed, I’m disappointed tonight. We train to win matches. We created chances and scored, but we have to be even more demanding of ourselves. It’s a shame. We should have won.”

Milan have now failed to win in three games in all competitions and as a result, find themselves at third in the table, three points behind leaders Inter.
