Milan: Tomori and Abraham to seek redemption in Fonseca’s eyes

Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham’s presence at Milan‘s training ground during the international break could help them redeem themselves in the eyes of coach Paulo Fonseca, who is considering dropping them from the Rossoneri’s starting line-up after they recently disobeyed his instructions.

The former Chelsea duo was involved in the penalty incident when the defender picked up the ball and handed it to his teammate, who missed the kick from the spot during Milan’s 2-1 loss at Fiorentina. Christian Pulisic was the designated penalty taker, which is why the two players were held accountable for not respecting Fonseca’s commands and damaging their team.

However, the fact that England didn’t call up both Tomori and Abraham for their Nations League fixtures means the two will have the chance to prove to the Rossoneri coach their regret for what happened and their commitment by working harder than before.

Milan’s Tomori and Abraham seek redemption in the eyes of Fonseca

Tomori and Abraham were among the few players who didn’t leave for the international break, and their presence at Milanello will present them with an opportunity to persuade Fonseca they deserve to be reconfirmed in Milan’s starting line-up against Udinese despite the recent controversial events.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fonseca is considering replacing the two with Strahinja Pavlović and Noah Okafor, respectively, but these days’ training sessions, with a limited group of players, will be a good chance for them to show their progress to the Portuguese manager, both in terms of attitude and will to follow his instruction.

Their recent form is also a concern that adds to the behavioural issues as both put in under-par displays against Fiorentina. However, they’ll still have time to earn Fonseca’s trust back.
