Juventus have run into troubles in the negotiations for their primary defensive targets, Fikayo Tomori, Antonio Silva, and David Hancko. It’s unlikely any one of them will join in the first few days of January as they wanted to.
According to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), Thiago Motta considers the Englishman an ideal reinforcement, but there have been no formal contacts between the two clubs yet. The Rossoneri are rigid and value the player despite his limited role in this campaign. His price tag is about €30M.
Moreover, Benfica didn’t take well Jorge Mendes explicitly nudging Antonio Silva toward Juventus. Coach Bruno Lage addressed his starlet in a presser (via Mediaset).
“It’s not a problem for us. First of all, nobody has told me anything yet, and I see him completely focused on us. He’s motivated and determined to help us become champions. Those no longer under contract at the end of the season will be able to choose their future, while the others will have to wait and respect the clauses. One thing is for certain: whoever wants our players will need a fat wallet.”
Per TuttoSport, Feyenoord haven’t opened to an initial loan for Hancko, but he’s eager to join a top team.
Cristiano Giuntoli has pulled a couple of signings out of the hat in the summer, but January is trickier. It’s obviously hard to add quality players without spending much. They’ll either have to cash in on somebody or move up an investment they were planning for the summer. Their rearguard survived Gleison Bremer’s injury initially but it’s falling apart now.
