Sergio Conceicao welcomed Matteo Gabbia back to his first-team group in training on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s match against Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final, but one of the club’s January signings will not be fit enough in time for the game against Claudio Ranieri’s Giallorossi.

Gabbia came off at half-time of the 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the final round of Champions League league phase fixtures with what was later diagnosed as a slight muscular injury.

That setback meant that he was only fit enough to play the final five minutes of the Derby della Madonnina against Inter, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the weekend.

However, he was back in full training with the rest of the first-team group at Milanello on Tuesday, which means that he could be involved against Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday according to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio.

Milan had a very busy end to the January transfer market, officially adding Santiago Gimenez, Joao Felix, Riccardo Sottil and Warren Bondo to their ranks on the final day of the window.

Three of those players were involved in training, as was Kyle Walker, who joined from Manchester City earlier in January, but deadline day signing Bondo has a slight muscular injury and is expected to be fit enough to play next week.
