On-loan AC Milan striker Tammy Abraham scored twice against his parent club Roma to knock them out of the Coppa Italia but admitted it “wasn’t nice” to be booed by supporters.
The former Chelsea forward is on a season-long loan at Milan from Roma and is permitted to play against his parent club.
Milan beat Roma 3-1 to reach the semi-final of the competition at the expense of Roma, with Abraham netting twice before on-loan forward Joao Felix scored his first goal for the club.
Abraham was then booed by the away fans in attendance and speaking to broadcaster Mediaset after the game, he said: “Everybody knows how I feel about Roma, it’s a club that means a lot to me. It wasn’t nice.
“I think they thought I celebrated, but I didn’t celebrate, I was just thanking God. This is football, it happens.”
Kyle Walker, on loan at AC Milan from Manchester City, also featured in the game alongside two other new signings Felix and striker Santiago Jimenez, who joined from Feyernood in January.
It was the second game Walker has played for the club since joining on loan, having also featured in the 1-1 draw with rivals Inter.
Felix, meanwhile, had the perfect start to his loan spell by scoring on his debut.
He made the move to Milan on the final day of the transfer window after finding game time difficult to come by at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca.
Milan boss Sergio Conceicao has been impressed by his new signings: “We’re not there yet, but with the players who arrived in the transfer window, their characteristics give me the comfort to go towards the football I like, including with two strikers and the right balance not just to score goals, but also not concede them.
“Joao and Santiago also only had one training session, but understood immediately, confirming their intelligence.”
