The Rossonerri are soon to receive a boost within their squad following a major injury crisis that has diminished the quality of the defensive department as Milan central defender Malick Thiaw is expected to resume group-training next week.

MilanNews reports that the 22 year-old defender has trained alone this week as coach Stefano Pioli’s squad prepare for their significant fixture against Napoli at the San Siro Sunday evening.

Despite the German international projected to train with his teammates following the upcoming league fixture, it is forecaster for the the former Shalke defender to miss out on the first leg of the Europa League knockout phase against Ligue 1 outfits Stade Rennes, as well as the domestic league fixture away from home against Monza due to the fact that a period of 10-15 days of physical recuperation is required.

As per Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, the pair of central defenders are only expected to resume action at the end of the month of February, leaving Pioli with very few options in the back-line.
