Massimiliano Allegri has instructed Milan to try signing Adrien Rabiot, but the deal isn’t easy, even though he’s currently exiled by Olympique Marseille due to a locker room dispute with Jonathan Rowe, who has recently headed to Bologna.
According to Sky, the Ligue 1 club demands €15M, with no makeweights. Ismael Bennacer starred for them on loan for the past six months. A return had been rumored. Moreover, the French midfielder hasn’t given up hope about mending fences with his present team.
Despite his rapport with Allegri, Milan wouldn’t necessarily be the top destination for Rabiot. He wishes to play in the Champions League. Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham and Aston Villa have shown interest as well.
The Rossoneri have started working on the deal through some intermediaries and haven’t received the green light from his mother/agent at this stage. His salary would be robust, €5/6M, but within what they generally pay to their top players.
The San Siro-based team probed Giovanni Fabbian, but Bologna don’t want to lose him without a worthy replacement. Yunus Musah is getting closer to Atalanta, but his exit isn’t essential to bring in the former Juventus staple.
They shouldn’t even try if he’s dubious to begin with, but the call from a familiar face can go a long way, especially after a messy situation. It’s already hard to deal with his camp normally, even more so with so little time left, and if there’s no complete conviction about the move. Their midfield would be overcrowded if he were to join. Another addition would raise questions about the future of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and/or Youssouf Fofana.
