Mikel Arteta is being seen in a whole new light thanks to Amazon’s new ‘All or Nothing: Arsenal’ documentary following the club’s 2021/22 season.

The Gunners’ ups and downs throughout one of their most tumultuous campaigns in modern history have been aired to the world as part of the latest programme in a series which has already followed Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus.

From losing their opening three Premier League games of the season to launching an unexpected Champions League charge, Arsenal‘s emotional rollercoaster of a year has been documented in fascinating detail for football fans to enjoy.

Arteta in ‘All or Nothing: Arsenal’

And one of the prevailing takeaways that viewers have had from the episodes to have been released so far is just how much Arteta is bringing to the table as club manager.

A divisive figure since taking over from Unai Emery in 2019, the former Manchester City coach has been the subject of calls for his head on more than one occasion during his tenure at Emirates Stadium.

However, throughout all the ‘#ArtetaOut’ trends and protests against the club, the 40-year-old has continued to keep his head down, work on the project that he believes in and deliver progress for the team.

And while the ‘All or Nothing’ documentary has demonstrated that Arteta is more than happy to achieve this progression by way of positive, emotional and unique dressing room speeches, he isn’t afraid to turn on the hairdryer treatment when required.

Arteta might come across as a man incapable of losing his rag, but rest assured that one of the Premier League’s most exciting coaches knows when to turn up the volume in his team talks.

Arteta rips into players after Forest defeat

In fact, you needn’t look any further than one of the most fascinating ‘All or Nothing’ clips to have been released so far with Arteta addressing his Arsenal squad after the FA Cup upset at Nottingham Forest to work that out.

After a miserable 1-0 defeat at the City Ground summed up by Nuno Tavares being tactically substituted in the first-half, Amazon’s fly-on-the-wall cameras showed that Arteta gave his players a piece of his mind.

There was distinctly no sign of flip charts, photographers or manifestation exercises when the Arsenal boss came out swinging in the dressing room, letting his players know exactly what he thought about the performance.

All in all, the tense full-time scenes culminated in Arteta getting so worked up that he stormed out of the room, leaving the players to stew on one of their worst displays of the season. Check out the footage below:

Now that’s a side to Arteta that we’ve never seen before.

A heavy-hitting speech from Arteta

The remark from one of the players that they can’t play like that against Liverpool once Arteta had left the room really rang true, but it was the nature of Arsenal’s performance at Forest, not necessarily the result, that was so damning.

Like Arteta said himself in the highly charged speech, it’s one thing to lose, but it’s another thing to put in a display that falls considerably short of the expectations at Emirates Stadium.

Plus, whether it’s a football manager, teacher, mentor, boss or any sort of leader, there’s often far more gravity and weight that comes with an angry dressing down when they so rarely show that side of themselves.

Arteta’s rant worked a treat

You can bet your bottom dollar that Arteta handling the situation like that will have really hit home for the Arsenal players, and the fact that they proceeded to grab a 0-0 draw at Anfield just four days later would suggest exactly that.

It might not have been enough to reach the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool recovered by winning the second leg 2-0 at the Emirates, but it was a markedly better performance than the one Arsenal had given in the FA Cup.

Clearly Arteta going full Sir Alex Ferguson does the trick every now and again.
