Vivianne Miedema says she’s feeling ‘really good’ at the moment after her brace helped City beat Aston Villa 4-2 in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Dutch international grabbed a first half double as the Blues moved back up to second in the WSL, with Mary Fowler and Jess Park adding further gloss to the scoreline at Villa Park.

Miedema’s second strike was the pick of the bunch, as she turned away from Jordan Nobbs with her back to goal before curling an unstoppable effort into the top corner.

A standout moment from the forward, who now has four goals in her last three games since returning from injury.

"I just feel really good at the moment,” she told Sky Sports after the Villa win.

“[For my second goal] I had a scan, and I knew there was a player behind me and if I could turn her I'd be in a good position to hit it [for the second].

“Once I was in the pocket, I knew it would go in. I was just happy to put us 2-1 up and, in the end, we made it difficult for ourselves, but we got the three points."

It was City’s first WSL victory of 2025, as Gareth Taylor’s side returned to winning ways after league defeats to Everton and Manchester United.

But the Blues had responded well to those disappointments with a midweek derby win in the League Cup quarter-finals and dug deep once again to see out the win after trailing 1-0 early on.

According to Miedema, the squad showed real character to get over the line.

She added: "After the last week we had, the disappointing result we had on Sunday, the girls did amazing on Wednesday night and after a short turnover for today.

"Being 1-0 behind after 10 minutes was really tough and we showed a great deal of character to come back.”
