With a sixth Premier League at stake for Manchester City, the Premier League has appointed Michael Oliver as referee for the season's final game against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and kick-off at 16:00 BST on Sunday, May 22nd.
The 37-year-old has already officiated Pep Guardiola's side four times this season in the league, as well as the FA Cup semi-final loss to Liverpool. City won all four league games, including two derby victories, the win at Stamford Bridge, and the 2-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad.
Oliver was also in charge of City's final game of the season last year – a game in which Sergio Aguero said his final goodbyes in a 5-0 thumping of Everton. The Geordie referee awarded the Toffees a penalty after a Ruben Dias foul. Ederson came up trumps with a save.

Finally, he enjoys giving out cards. With just one game to go in the Premier League, Oliver has dished out 75 yellows, three double yellows and four straight reds; no dismissals have come during a City game.
