Mexican wonderkid speaks out on Real Madrid links – ‘It is an honour, but…’ | OneFootball

A new name is generating plenty of excitement in Mexico and now across Europe – Gilberto Mora, a 16-year-old talent from Club Tijuana, who has made his intentions clear that his dream is to play for Real Madrid, reports Defensa Central.

The youngster has been one of the hottest prospects during recent weeks, attracting attention not only in Mexico but also from several of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Despite that, all signs point towards Madrid being in the strongest position to land him.

Expressing gratitude

When asked directly about the rumours, Mora responded with humility but also left no doubt about how much the attention means to him,

“I’m very happy with the moment I’m living. I try to enjoy it. Think only about the present, and the rest will be whatever God wants.

“I’m happy. It’s an honour for me that big teams ask, but I try to focus on my own thing, letting the pitch speak for itself.”

That attitude mirrors the faith others have placed in him. His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, added more fuel to the speculation by acknowledging the growing interest from Real Madrid,

“He’s doing very well, yes, he’s linked with Real Madrid. But I think it’s normal for him to be linked with big teams because the kid is very young and strong.”

Wants to play for Real Madrid

Sources close to the club insist that the youngster’s priority is to play for Real Madrid, and that admiration is mutual.

Mora sees the Spanish giants as the ideal destination to continue his development and to follow in the footsteps of other Mexican stars who have shone abroad.

While many clubs will continue to circle, Madrid could choose to accelerate negotiations over the coming months to avoid losing out.

With the season just beginning, speculation will only increase, but Mora is determined to let his football do the talking.
