Kylian Mbappe enjoyed a spectacular 2021/22 season with Paris Saint-Germain.
As a team, the star-studded French outfit flattered to deceive, crashing out of the Champions League in the last-16 and failing to secure any of the domestic cups on offer.
PSG did win the Ligue 1 title, but a side containing Mbappe, Neymar, Lionel Messi and many other world-class footballers should be achieving far more than that.
But while Mauricio Pochettino’s side were nothing to write home about overall, Mbappe was up there among the very best individual performers of the season.
The Frenchman – who recently signed a lucrative three-year contract extension at PSG – scored and assisted goals at a frightening rate.
Mbappe’s heroics throughout 2021/22 have seen him join an exclusive club of players to finish a European campaign in the 21st century with the most goal contributions recorded across all competitions.
Check out all the winners of that prestigious accolade here. Spoiler alert, Messi features an obscene amount of times…

Well played, Kylian.
But while Mbappe’s numbers from 2021/22 are mighty impressive, the list above is about one man and one man only – Messi.
The diminutive genius finished top for goals and assists combined in eight of the 23 completed seasons, including an astonishing haul of 103 in 2011/12 alone.
Will that total ever be equalled or surpassed? Put it this way, we can’t see it happening for a long, long time.
