PSG clashed heads with RB Leipzig at the Parc des Princes earlier tonight, hoping to pick up all three points on their home turf. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoreline in the 9th minute as he put the ball past Peter Gulacsi to make it 1-0 for the hosts. Andre Silva scored the equalizer in the 28th minute, following which Nordi Mukiele scored in the second half to put the visitors in the lead. Just 10 minutes later, Lionel Messi scored two goals in the space of seven minutes to secure a thrilling 3-2 win for the Parisians.

Let’s take a look at how each PSG player fared during the clash against the Red Bulls.

Keylor Navas 6

The Costa Rica shot-stopper made some decent saves in the match’s opening stages, but there’s nothing he could have done to prevent the goals that he conceded.

Nuno Mendes 6

The Portuguese wing-back was smooth as butter down the left flank as his blistering pace helped him beat his markers with little to no effort. However, he could have performed a bit better defensively.

Marquinhos 5.5

The Brazilian centre-back had a couple of nervy moments at the heart of PSG’s defence as he switched off in the most crucial situations, but he did just enough to prevent the visitors from getting the third goal.

Presnel Kimpembe 5.5

Ditto as Marqinhos, Kimpembe didn’t even make an effort to stop Mukiele’s effort from finding the back of the net. However, he made some crucial blocks to keep things tidy at the back.

Achraf Hakimi 5

The former Inter defender left Angelinho in acres of space down the right flank, leading to Leipzig’s first goal.

Idrissa Gueye 5

The Senegalese midfielder didn’t look too influential in the middle of the park as the opposition attackers were able to make swift transitions during counterattacks.

Marco Verratti 8

It was a complete performance from the Italian international. There were instances when he ticked everything on the bucket list – he dropped deep to protect his side’s back four, stayed central to dictate the game’s tempo and even pushed forward to create goal-scoring chances for his teammates.

Ander Herrera 6.5

The Spaniard won some important duels to help his team retain possession in midfield.

Lionel Messi 9

A fantastic brace for the Argentine wizard.

Lionel Messi, along with Kylian Mbappe, ran the show upfront as he scored two of the most important goals of tonight’s match.

Julian Draxler 6.5

The German winger isn’t naturally suited to the left-wing role, but he did just enough to keep up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe 9

As much as the penalty miss would hurt him, there’s no denying that Kylian Mbappe was the best player on the pitch tonight by far. He made the first goal look incredibly easy and later set up both the goals for Lionel Messi.
