RB Leipzig’s manager Marco Rose is optimistic about his side’s chance to keep Xavi Simons (21) on loan for another season.

The Dutchman has excelled since moving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and it has been no secret that the Bundesliga side would be keen on extending his stay in Germany. Simons has fitted perfectly into Rose’s system, having scored 9 times and assisted 14 across all competitions.

Rose struck a confident figure ahead of Leipzig’s game against Borussia Dortmund on the weekend suggesting that Simons feels settled in Germany, “We are optimistic and he feels comfortable here.”

The manager continued by detailing that he had convinced him once to move to Germany and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he could achieve it again, “I tried to convince him to come here in the summer, we managed. A lot of what we discussed back then worked out… It’s good for him and for us, so we’ll try to extend [the loan].”

Simons’ future rests with PSG

Of course, the matter is not up to Rose or to Leipzig. Simons looks to be featuring heavily in Luis Enrique’s post-Mbappé plans, and there are rumours that PSG plot on making him a central part of their attack from next season.
