Chelsea clashed heads with Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to earn maximum points on their travels. The Blues made a solid start to the game and took the lead in the 45th minute when Ben Chilwell scored with a great strike. The visitors went into the half-time interval with a narrow 1-0 lead.
The West London outfit were completely dominated in the second half as Brentford threw everything but the kitchen sink at them. However, Edouard Mendy made a plethora of world-class saves to deny the opposition a goal as Chelsea managed to grind out an ugly 1-0 victory away from home which took them back to the top of the Premier League table.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the match against the Bees.
The Blues keeper made a handful of important saves in the second half to keep his clean sheet intact. He undeniably deserves the man of the match award for his heroics this evening.
Chalobah was solid at the back as he defended his penalty box with everything he got. Thomas Tuchel will be quite happy with his performance during the game.
He was strong in the air and made a couple of crucial interceptions for his team. He will be happy with the clean sheet.
Sarr made plenty of last-ditch clearances to come to his team’s rescue. He also earned the ball back multiple times for his team.

The Spaniard made a couple of good clearances but ran out of gas and got replaced late in the game.
He tried his best to protect his teammates inside his half and made two encouraging runs with the ball from midfield.
Loftus-Cheek did his fair share of defending and completed some eye-catching dribbles going forward.
The Croatia international made some good runs with the ball but struggled to create anything meaningful during his time on the field.
Chilwell scored the only goal of the game just before the half-time break which was enough in the end to give his team all three points.
The Belgian international worked hard but never looked like he would find the back of the net.
Werner’s pace caused a few problems for the Brentford defenders. However, he didn’t get enough chances to get his name on the scoresheet.
The English midfielder struggled to get a foothold in the game.
He struggled to get into the flow of the game.
James came on to run the clock down for the Blues.
