Memphis Depay and Steven Berghuis will be unavailable for the Netherlands’ match with Belgium after picking up injuries against Poland.

An otherwise excellent night for the team was tainted by injuries, with Teun Koopmeiners forced off with a head injury at the start, Memphis Depay coming off with a hamstring issue 49 minutes in and Steven Berghuis being replaced with 15 minutes to go after feeling pain in his back.

While Koopmeiners should be fit for the match against Belgium on Sunday, Louis van Gaal says that Memphis and Berghuis won’t be.

“I understand that Teun was already feeling a bit better, and I replaced Frenkie [de Jong] as a precaution. He had some tension on the muscles, but he expects to play, and he knows his own body,” Van Gaal told NOS.

“I don’t think Memphis will play on Sunday and neither will Berghuis. It’s a back injury and that usually lasts longer than a few days.”
