AC Milan are planning for the future with a new sporting director and a new head coach expected to arrive. Gian Piero Gasperini’s name is gaining momentum for the latter position, a report claims.
According to Claudio Raimondi in his report for SportMediaset (via MilanNews), while waiting to define who will be chosen as the sporting director of Milan – with Igli Tare the current favourite – a new name has emerged to take over from Sergio Conceicao.
It is Gasperini, the current coach of Atalanta who Tare had already tried to hire in the past when he was at Lazio. His candidacy is gaining traction among the offices of Casa Milan, as the possibility of leaving La Dea is growing.
Gasperini has a contract with Atalanta until 2026 and he announced that there will be no further renewals, so either this summer or next summer at the latest he will say goodbye to the Bergamo club:
“There is a beginning and an end, we will see at the end of the year whether to let the contract expire or interrupt the relationship, there will certainly be no further renewals,” he stated.
It comes after Calciomercato.com also stated yesterday that Gasperini is a name to keep an eye on, because Atalanta director Tony D’Amico is a candidate for the Milan job, and the pair could reunite in red and black.
