Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal are reportedly pushing to sign Kylian Mbappe, who has been put up for sale by Paris Saint-Germain.

On Friday evening, it was widely reported that Mbappe has been left out of the Parisiens’ squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.

The decision was taken after Mbappe made it clear he has no intention to stay at the club beyond 2024.

PSG essentially gave the France captain an ultimatum: sign a new contract with us or be sold this summer.

Obviously, selling the best player in the world will not be simple and cannot materialise overnight, especially considering he does not want to leave yet.

There are not a host of clubs able to afford Mbappe. PSG are expected to want at least £100million and the player’s wage demands are extraordinary.

This has opened the door for a shock move to Saudi Arabia.

Mbappe is reportedly eager to stay in Europe and play in the Champions League, though PIF-owned Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahly may be the only clubs willing to meet PSG’s demands.

No matter how angry PSG are with the player, should they fail to sell him this summer, surely they will not exile him from their squad? They have no chance of winning the Champions League without him and everyone and their dog knows that is the end goal for the club’s hierarchy.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has said the Saudis are “prepared” to sign Mbappe and are willing to have the French superstar in their league for a single season before he joins Real Madrid for nothing.

Jacobs wrote on Twitter: “Understand Saudi dealmakers are prepared to make an offer for Kylian Mbappe this summer even if they only get him for one season & then he joined Real.

“Mbappe’s plan is to stay in Europe so a difficult transfer to pull off. PSG would have no issue selling to Saudi.”

More specifically, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna claimed Al-Hilal are looking to make a play to land Mbappe.

“The Saudi government now wants to sign Kylian Mbappe,” Aouna wrote on Twitter.

“After failing to recruit Messi, the government is prepared to offer a huge contract for Kylian Mbappe to join Al-Hilal.

“For now, Mbappe’s ‘official’ position remains the same: stay at PSG.”

The player’s stance means a move to the middle east is pretty unlikely and L’Equipe adds that there is ‘almost zero chance’ Mbappe would leave PSG for a club other than Real Madrid. Sorry, Arsenal and Liverpool fans.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says PSG are “open to every solution” and are “convinced” Mbappe already has an “agreement” with Los Blancos.

A report from The Athletic has said a one-year stint in Saudi Arabia is a possibility and one that would make Mbappe’s already ridiculous bank balance look out of this world.

‘PSG also believe that Mbappe is in line for bonuses worth as much as €160m in the event he sees out his contract in France and joins Real Madrid next summer,’ the report states. ‘One extraordinary option even being touted on Friday night involved the possibility that Saudi officials would consider a one-year deal (either a loan with a vast fee, or a single-year transfer) which would allow Mbappe a way out of PSG this season, allow PSG to recoup some money and then allow the player to cash in as a free agent when joining Madrid next summer, essentially enabling Mbappe to become rich three times over, but there is no suggestion at this stage the player wants to exit European football.’
