La Liga president Javier Tebas has on Tuesday grabbed the headlines once more.
As much comes owing to his latest comments surrounding Real Madrid’s ongoing pursuit of Kylian Mbappé.
Frontman Mbappé, of course, has been locked in negotiations with the brass in Spain’s capital for several months now.
This comes with a view to a joining of forces in the summer, upon the conclusion of his current terms with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Though the transfer is viewed as something of a formality to come to fruition, no form of official confirmation has yet been forthcoming.
It therefore came as something of a surprise when, on Tuesday, the aforementioned Javier Tebas announced Mbappé’s Santiago Bernabéu switch.
Speaking in an interview with Argentine outlet Diario Olé, La Liga’s president was drawn on the long-rumoured arrival of another of world football’s standout performers in Spain.
And Tebas did not hesitate in confirming that Real Madrid have already signed Mbappé, who has committed to terms with the Champions League finalists through the summer of 2029:
“Mbappé already signed with Real Madrid. He will be here next season and for the next five seasons in Spain.”
