Kylian Mbappe scored just 8 seconds into Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash with Lille on Sunday evening.

The Frenchman was sent clear after a wonderful through ball by Lionel Messi. He made no mistake when one vs one with Léo Jardim.

Man City had kick-off but found themselves behind just 10.52 seconds into the game.

They passed the ball all the way back to their goalkeeper, Carlo Nash, who saw his clearance charged down by Alan Shearer and bounce into the net.

9. Ledley King | Tottenham Hotspur v Bradford City (2000) | 9.9 seconds

King only scored 10 Premier League goals. His first, scored in 2000, happens to be the second fastest in Premier League history.

He broke forward and unleashed an effort from 25 yards that deflected into the net.

8. Karim Bellarabi | Borussia Dortmund v Bayer Leverkusen (2014) | 9 seconds

Leverkusen enjoyed an incredible start to their match against Dortmund in 2014. Bellarabi picked up the ball some 20 yards out, turned a defender inside-out, before firing his effort into the net.

7. Kevin Volland | 1899 Hoffenheim v Bayern Munich (2015) | 9 seconds

364 seconds after Bellarabi’s goal, Volland tied his mark with a strike against Bayern.

Both men share the record, although the Bundesliga website have confirmed that Volland’s strike was 0.3 milliseconds quicker than Bellarabi’s.

6. Paolo Poggi | Piacenza v Fiorentina (2001) | 8.1 seconds

Poggi’s strike was the fastest in Ligue 1 history… until it was broken in 2001.

5. Michel Rio | Caen v Cannes (1992) | 8 seconds

Rio’s effort was broken by Mbappe on Sunday evening.

4. Kylian Mbappe | Lille v Paris SG (2022) | 8 seconds

PSG got off to the fastest of starts against Lille on Sunday evening as they scored a wonderful kick-off routine. They went on to win 7-1.

3. Shane Long | Watford v Southampton (2019) | 7.69 seconds

Long netted the fastest goal in Premier League history in 2019, breaking King’s record.

Watford had kick-off and the ball was passed back to Craig Cathcart.

Long charged down Cathcart’s clearance and finished past Ben Foster.

2. Joseba Llorente | Valladolid v Espanyol (2008) | 7.22 seconds

Llorente’s effort is the fastest in La Liga history by some distance.

1. Rafael Leão | Sassuolo v AC Milan (2020) | 6.2 seconds

Leao is the proud owner of the fastest goal ever in Europe’s top five leagues. Watch it below…

AC Milan took kick-off and their front five immediately ran at Sassuolo’s goal.

Sassuolo failed to track Leao’s run and he made no mistake when the ball was given to him.
