Mauro Laínez has given América a welcome boost by declaring himself fit ahead of the Liguilla.
The winger sustained a quad injury in the 1-0 win over Atlético San Luis on 18 October, and has not played since.
While Laínez’s recovery has taken longer than initially expected, the Azulcrema’s dominant position in the Apertura table meant manager Santiago Solari had no reason to rush him back.
The 25-year-old took to Instagram to post a photo of himself training with Las Ágilas and the statement “ready”.
América will play two friendlies against Liga de Expansión MX sides to bridge the gap between the end of the regular season and their quarter-final.
TUDN reports that a game against Tlaxcala has been scheduled for this Friday, while Atlante will provide the opposition next Tuesday.
It is not yet known if Laínez will feature in either or both of those fixtures.
