Portuguese midfielder João Neves is a significant absentee for Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, where the Parisians will face Tottenham this Wednesday, after being suspended for two matches.

The 20-year-old was dismissed in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea, after pulling the hair of Spanish full-back Marc Cucurella near the London side's penalty area. The Premier League side eventually went on to defeat PSG 3-0 to lift the trophy.

João Neves will now miss the next two matches for coach Luis Enrique, according to French outlet RMC Sport, starting with the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham, followed by the first match of the Ligue 1 season against Nantes.

It is worth noting that this was the first red card of João Neves' career. The 20-year-old was pivotal in PSG's impressive 2024/25 campaign, finishing the season with 59 appearances, seven goals, and 10 assists.
