Mauro Laínez is revelling in the “European” style of training América are employing in pre-season.
With former Real Madrid player and manager Santiago Solari entering his second campaign in charge of Las Aguilas, he is starting to impose his philosophy on their style.
And there are no complaints from Laínez about the new methods.
“It is a very different pre-season, in the style that is handled in Europe, in the style of the teacher and his coaching staff,” the winger said in a YouTube interview with the club.
“It is a very beautiful pre-season because it is with the ball. All the physical effort is with the ball. The ball is the most important thing in football. It is a very prepared pre-season, very professional.”
América finished second in the table in Guard1anes 2021, before losing out on away goals to Pachuca in the quarter-finals.
Laínez, who is on loan from Tijuana, insists the Azulcrema will be going all out to collect silverware in the upcoming Apertura.
“We are going to do things well, better than the previous tournament,” the 25-year-old said.
“We are going to fight for the title, we want to be champions, we want to be protagonists and this team was made and designed for that.”
América are currently north of the border in the United States, and will take on Santos Laguna in a friendly next Sunday in Salt Lake City.
