Mauricio Pochettino looks set to be the new Chelsea coach, and one of his first jobs – one which will start long before he even takes over from Frank Lampard – will be deciding which players to keep and which players to dump. But from the players he has now, who would he pick?

Here’s the team we thinks he goes for:

Pochettino has played mainly in a 4231, and we can see that being the case here, as we have the right players for it.

Kepa would stay in goal because he’s had some better games this season, but we still expect a senior option to be brought in this summer.

At right back Reece James is a no brainer, the same with Ben Chilwell at left back.

The centre is a bit more complex – Thiago Silva will play when he’s fit, and probably Wesley Fofana alongside him, but expect to see plenty of Benoit Badiashile, too.

Enzo Fernandez is a fixture of this team for years to come, and when fit N’Golo Kante is the perfect partner.

Competition really hots up further ahead – we will buy a striker this summer but until then Kai Havertz is the only option we have really.

Behind him Mason Mount feels like a great option for a Pochettino team, playing in a Dele Alli role.

Out wide, Raheem Sterling’s work rate and Mykhailo Mudryk’s pace seem ideal for Pochettino’s formation.

Here’s the team in full:
