Whilst Mathys Tel (18) continues to reflect on his future, Bayern Munich have identified the Frenchman as one of the five players that the club are desperate to keep next season, according to L’Équipe.
Tel has eight goals and four assists in 961 minutes of football for the Bavarian club this season, making him one of the more efficient French forwards – statistically – this season.
However, to his frustration, he has failed to carve out a regular starting spot for Bayern Munich and as a result, he has also failed to break into the France squad. The former Stade Rennais man was included in the France U19 squad in the most recent international break.
Thomas Tuchel has seemed reticent to give Tel more game time, despite the demands of the club’s hierarchy, and the fans. However, with Tuchel leaving the club at the end of the season, the executives are determined not to lose Tel too. According to L’Équipe, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Harry Kane and Tel have been identified as the five players to be retained at all costs this summer. Tel wants to play a more starring role and under a new manager, he may do just that.
