Manchester City face Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend, as the division’s two unbeaten teams go head-to-head at the Etihad.

Manchester City remain unbeaten this season in all competitions and began their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla in midweek.

Erling Haaland scored twice to take his staggering record to 12 goals in seven games, with the arrival of the Norwegian having added a new level of potency to the Premier League’s dominant force.

There have been some chinks in the City armour however, with Aston Villa and Newcastle holding the champions to draws in recent weeks. City were also forced to come from two goals down to rescue a result against Crystal Palace and Spurs will be hoping to exploit those weaknesses this weekend.

Guardiola has problems to solve with his backline with both John Stones and Kyle Walker missing the clash in Seville, while Aymeric Laporte is also on the sidelines. Manuel Akanji will hope to feature for the first time in the Premier League after making his City debut in midweek.

The Brazil international has impressed since his summer arrival from Everton and will hope to retain his place ahead of Dejan Kulusevski.

Harry Kane has been in fine form with five goals from six games, though Heung-min Son is yet to open his account for the campaign. The Golden Boot winner’s 16 shots this season are the most in the Premier League without scoring, though he boasts a superb record against this weekend’s opponents. He has scored seven goals in 15 games against City, for a Spurs side who have won four of the last five league meetings.

City and Spurs entertained in one of the games of the 2021/22 Premier League season in February, as the teams shared five goals in an end-to-end encounter at the Etihad.

Harry Kane’s stoppage-time goal gave Tottenham a stunning victory over Premier League leaders, in a chaotic finish to the contest. Spurs had twice led through goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Kane, but City roared back to level through Ilkay Gundogan and a Riyad Mahrez penalty.

Mahrez’s equaliser came in stoppage time and looked to have rescued a point for City, before Kane rose to power home a header moments later and earn a dramatic 95th-minute win for Spurs.

Kane – subject of interest from City the previous summer – was the star of the show in one of the best individual performances of the Premier League campaign.
