Celtic FC Women climbed to top spot in the SWPL on Wednesday evening as they ran out 1-0 winners over Hibernian.

Marking their return to the Excelsior Stadium for the first time since their Glasgow derby victory over Rangers in March, the Ghirls were looking to continue the momentum they have built up in recent months.

And it was Caitlin Hayes’ first-half header that made sure of all three points, with results elsewhere sending Elena Sadiku’s side to first place in the SWPL.

It could also prove to be a huge confidence booster for the Celts, with another massive game on the horizon this weekend as the Ghirls mark their return to Paradise against Hearts on Sunday.
