Norwich City have signed Harry Darling following the expiration of his contract at Swansea City.
The move sees the defender reunite with former boss Liam Manning, who recently took over at Carrow Road. The Canaries' new manager was in charge of Darling at MK Dons earlier in their careers.
The 25-year-old has been an ever-present for Swansea over the past few campaigns but decided to opt against extending his three-year stay with the Welsh side this summer.
Football League World’s Norwich City fan pundit, Zeke Downes, believes Darling could be a huge signing for the Canaries.
“I think it's a massive coup,” stated Zeke. “He's a player that has got a good amount of Championship experience and has played over 200 professional games already.
“He is highly rated and had a lot of teams after him. He's 25 years old, which is a really good age, not too old, not too young. It's good to get that sort of age in the squad to replace the older ones who are leaving.
"He even has a bit of a goal threat as well, which is something that we've lacked in recent years. That'll be handy with set pieces and it gives us a little bit of something extra that we haven't had for a while.
“I think it's a really good signing and it's looking like the start of quite an exciting window.”
Norwich City are a club with Premier League ambitions but have underachieved over the past few years.
Finishing 13th for the second time in the last three Championship campaigns isn’t what anyone involved with the Canaries would’ve expected following their relegation to the second-tier in 2022.
However, the Norfolk outfit have started the 2025 summer transfer window with real intent.
Prying Liam Manning from Bristol City’s hands was impressive, due to Norwich finishing seven places behind the Robins last term.
Clearly, the Canaries are relaying their ambition to potential targets in a convincing fashion, with Darling now deciding to leave Swansea in favour of a Carrow Road switch.
If the club can continue in such ambitious form as the transfer window progresses, excitement is sure to build around Norwich that Manning can guide the side back up to the sharp end of the second-tier.
